Winter Prep Tips for Stamford Rental Apartments

Our recent snow storm not-withstanding, the fall season with its cooler temps has arrived, and we can finally put away our warm-weather gear with confidence and look forward to many months of snuggling under a blanket in our Stamford rental apartments. Here at the Stamford Apartment, your heat is already included in the monthly rent so you needn’t worry about high heating bills.

Whether you live in Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford or The Townhouse, our building’s heating system will automatically come on when the temperature falls below 65 degrees. You can help conserve energy by removing any air conditioners from your windows, and storing them until next spring. Air conditioning units left in windows allow for cold air to enter while the warm air flows right outside. Keeping your curtains or blinds open during the day to allow sunlight to warm your apartment, and then closing them at night to keep out the cold is also a time-honored practice here in the Northeast. ballet-slippersThis Saturday, July 30, groups in cities and towns all over the country will celebrate the second annual National Dance Day. As it was officially recognized by Congress last year, the purpose of National Dance Day is to bring awareness of health and wellness issues in a fun and lively manner.

This year, National Dance Day participants will gather at Six Flags theme parks, as well as in other locations around the country. Here in Stamford, the folks at Jazzersize of Southwestern CT are hosting a free National Dance Day event in downtown Stamford. It’ll be held outside on the lawn of the Church of the Archangels at the corner of Bedford Street and Third Street – just a few blocks’ stroll for the residents of our Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford and The Townhouse Stamford apartment rentals. The beginners’ dance will start at 11 a.m., intermediate at 11:30 a.m., and advanced at noon. At 12:30 p.m., all participants will dance again for a final mini-performance. Read More→

sax-playerThere’s so much going on in Downtown Stamford that sometimes it’s hard to decide what to do first. But for the residents of our Stamford Apartment rentals of Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford or Townhouse have no worries about that. When life gets too busy and the weather gets too hot, it’s time to slow down with some cool jazz.

You already know that Thursday nights the Alive At Five concerts rock downtown Stamford all through the summer. But, did you know that on Wednesday nights, the Columbus Park stage lights up with smooth jazz from some big names like John Tesh, Joyce DiCamillo and – wait for it – Roberta Flack!

The concerts start at 6:30 p.m. on the following Wednesday nights: July 13, July 20 and the final concert on July 27.

Columbus Park is just a few blocks south from any of our Stamford Apartments; just about a 10 minute walk. And, once you’re there, you and your friends can find a table at any of the restaurants and cafes along the park, get a cold drink and just sit back and let the cool sounds just wash over you.

Summertime = Party Time

Posted by: | Comments (0)

fort-stamfordIt’s party time! Summertime means parties, barbecues, fiestas, weddings, birthdays and picnics. My family has something going on almost every weekend of the summer already, and I’ll bet yours does too. While the grounds of our downtown Stamford rentals are lovely and provide a shady retreat from the heat of the day, they don’t lend themselves to outdoor gatherings. But, did you know Stamford is home to dozens of public parks? Luckily, the Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford and Townhouse Apartments are all very close to a number of public parks where you can enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.

First is Scalzi Park, located on Bridge Street, less than half-a-mile from the Morgan Manor and Hoyt-Bedford Apartments. It offers picnic areas and grills for even your largest get-togethers. In addition, Scalzi Park offers public tennis courts, baseball fields, several bocce-ball courts and a walking/running track to keep everyone happy and occupied. And, best of all, your guests don’t have to purchase a park pass to go there. Read More→

Activities in Stamford

Posted by: | Comments (0)

cove-island-300x250It seems every day I’m speaking to people who are new to the area and when they ask me what there is to do in Stamford I just smile. I love bragging about all the benefits of living here and especially for those living in our downtown rentals in Stamford. The residents of our Hoyt Bedford, Morgan Manor and Townhouse apartment communities are well situated to take advantage of so many activities it’s hard not to brag a little.

Are beaches & water sports your thing? Stamford has four beaches and five harbor areas located just a five minute drive from downtown. You can take your car or hop on one of the many city busses and spend the rest of the day sunning, swimming or walking in the surf collecting shells. Jet skis are for rent in the West Beach marina and fishing permits are available for any of the waterfront areas. Playgrounds, public tennis courts, picnic and barbecue areas give everyone something to do to enjoy a day at the shore. Read More→

Summer Fun in Downtown Stamford

Posted by: | Comments (0)

stamford-dwntnAmong the many advantages the residents of our downtown Stamford rentals enjoy, I would have to say that being in close proximity to all the events and activities that go on in downtown has to be one of the best. The residents at Morgan manor and Hoyt Bedford can simply stroll a couple of blocks to reach Bedford Street, while the residents of our Townhouse apartments can simply cross the street to reach all the fun.

This season promises to be fun-filled and offers something for everyone from open air farmers markets to craft fairs, concerts and parades. The annual Stamford Memorial Day parade kicked off the season on Sunday May 29 at noon and featured marching bands, floats and contingents from all four of the armed forces, with both active and retired military taking part. Take it Easy in Downtown Stamford

Posted by: | Comments (0)

chezjeanpierreDowntown Stamford is such a vibrant part of the city that you might get the idea we’re all go-go-go! Well, while there certainly is a wide selection of activities to choose from, sometimes there’s nothing better than sitting down to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee ( in an actual cup, with a saucer!) and watching the world go by for a little while. Sunday brunch is a wonderful opportunity to relax, eat, catch up with friends or just read the paper. If you lived in one of our Stamford Apartments at Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford or The Townhouse Apartments, you’d be perfectly situated to sample some great local cafes located just a short stroll away.

Tiernan’s on Bedford Street is an Irish Pub & Restaurant and offers a Sunday house special: the Irish Breakfast with Irish bacon, sausages, eggs, Black & White pudding, baked beans, tomato, mushrooms & a choice of french fries. Read More→
