Posted by: Sandra | Comments (0)

Arts & Crafts on BedfordIt’s going to be that time of year again soon, when all those interesting-looking sculptures start popping up around downtown Stamford! Plans are well under way for this year’s sculpture exhibit. Similar to the “Cow Parade,” “Art-O-Mobiles” and “Stamford Safari” events, this year’s “Reigning Cats and Dogs” event is an interactive sculpture exhibit that takes place all around downtown Stamford. For the past few years, the Stamford Downtown Special Services District has issued a call to local artists in the area for participation in the event, and this year is no different.

The Stamford Downtown Special Services District has invited any and all local artists to submit their designs for jury and possible selection in this year’s exhibit, which will take place from June – August, 2010. Local artists that wish to participate will, through this juried selection process, paint, sculpt and decorate fiberglass cats and dogs. Read More→

800px-derek_trucksresxasSaturday night, October 31st, after the kids have finished trick-or-treating and are knee-deep going through their extensive candy collection, make your way to the Palace Theatre in Stamford to catch a wonderful performance from the Derek Trucks Band. After spending the day devoted to your children, you deserve a few hours to yourself in which you can unwind, let loose and celebrate Halloween.

It wouldn’t be a Halloween concert without a little festivity, so costumes are entirely welcome. In fact, three lucky winners will be chosen for their creative costumes, and they, along with their guests, will be “treated” to prizes. The show starts at 9:00 p.m.

The Derek Trucks Band has appeared on Good Morning America and has such stand out singles as, “Down in the Flood” and “Get What You Deserve.” With an Eric Clapton-type influence, Derek Trucks has received rave reviews for his live performances. It will be a fantastic night! Read More→
