Celebrate National Dance Day in Downtown Stamford
Posted by: | Comments
This Saturday, July 30, groups in cities and towns all over the country will celebrate the second annual National Dance Day. As it was officially recognized by Congress last year, the purpose of National Dance Day is to bring awareness of health and wellness issues in a fun and lively manner.
This year, National Dance Day participants will gather at Six Flags theme parks, as well as in other locations around the country. Here in Stamford, the folks at Jazzersize of Southwestern CT are hosting a free National Dance Day event in downtown Stamford. It’ll be held outside on the lawn of the Church of the Archangels at the corner of Bedford Street and Third Street – just a few blocks’ stroll for the residents of our Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford and The Townhouse Stamford apartment rentals. The beginners’ dance will start at 11 a.m., intermediate at 11:30 a.m., and advanced at noon. At 12:30 p.m., all participants will dance again for a final mini-performance. Read More→
Cool Down the Warm Summer Nights with Some Cool Jazz
Posted by: | Comments
There’s so much going on in Downtown Stamford that sometimes it’s hard to decide what to do first. But for the residents of our Stamford Apartment rentals of Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford or Townhouse have no worries about that. When life gets too busy and the weather gets too hot, it’s time to slow down with some cool jazz.
You already know that Thursday nights the Alive At Five concerts rock downtown Stamford all through the summer. But, did you know that on Wednesday nights, the Columbus Park stage lights up with smooth jazz from some big names like John Tesh, Joyce DiCamillo and – wait for it – Roberta Flack!
The concerts start at 6:30 p.m. on the following Wednesday nights: July 13, July 20 and the final concert on July 27.
Columbus Park is just a few blocks south from any of our Stamford Apartments; just about a 10 minute walk. And, once you’re there, you and your friends can find a table at any of the restaurants and cafes along the park, get a cold drink and just sit back and let the cool sounds just wash over you.
Summertime = Party Time

It’s party time! Summertime means parties, barbecues, fiestas, weddings, birthdays and picnics. My family has something going on almost every weekend of the summer already, and I’ll bet yours does too. While the grounds of our downtown Stamford rentals are lovely and provide a shady retreat from the heat of the day, they don’t lend themselves to outdoor gatherings. But, did you know Stamford is home to dozens of public parks? Luckily, the Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford and Townhouse Apartments are all very close to a number of public parks where you can enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
First is Scalzi Park, located on Bridge Street, less than half-a-mile from the Morgan Manor and Hoyt-Bedford Apartments. It offers picnic areas and grills for even your largest get-togethers. In addition, Scalzi Park offers public tennis courts, baseball fields, several bocce-ball courts and a walking/running track to keep everyone happy and occupied. And, best of all, your guests don’t have to purchase a park pass to go there. Read More→
Summer Fun in Downtown Stamford

Among the many advantages the residents of our downtown Stamford rentals enjoy, I would have to say that being in close proximity to all the events and activities that go on in downtown has to be one of the best. The residents at Morgan manor and Hoyt Bedford can simply stroll a couple of blocks to reach Bedford Street, while the residents of our Townhouse apartments can simply cross the street to reach all the fun.
This season promises to be fun-filled and offers something for everyone from open air farmers markets to craft fairs, concerts and parades. The annual Stamford Memorial Day parade kicked off the season on Sunday May 29 at noon and featured marching bands, floats and contingents from all four of the armed forces, with both active and retired military taking part. BINGO in Hamden

The name “Bingo” as we know it today is a form of lottery and a direct descendant of the National Lottery started in Italy in 1530. It is reported that in 1778 the French captured the lottery fantasy adding chips to the game as part of the playing equipment.
In the 1800’s, educational lotto games became popular including a German lotto game designed to teach children multiplication tables, spelling and history. Even today lotto still holds its own in the toy and game market. The game gives kids in the 3 to 6 year old range a bit of fun while teaching them to recognize numbers and count.
Bingo is a fun and entertaining, and it’s a game that children and adults alike can enjoy in a group setting. If you are a Bingo enthusiast, you can use the internet to look for community centers, churches or senior facilities in your area that offer games and tournaments.
If you live in the Branford or Hamden rental apartments at Montoya or Seramonte, some of the places where Bingo is offered are: Sleeping Giant Bingo in Hamden, Knights of Columbus in Guilford and Sons & Daughters of Italy in Wallingford. Read More→

Hamden Farmers Market through August
Posted by: | CommentsTime is running out to take advantage of the amazing Hamden Farmers market. Now more than ever, it is extremely important to support local businesses and the local economy. One of the best ways to do this is to attend the weekly farmer’s market in Hamden and purchase produce from local farmers. Of course, there is much more than just beautiful fruits and vegetables at the farmer’s market – there are handmade crafts, baked goods, fresh cut flowers and more.
In addition to buying your weekly groceries and one-of-a-kind nick knacks, the market is a great way to get out in the town and mingle with other residents. It’s the events like the market that promote a strong sense of community and make Hamden such a fantastic place to live. For those living in the Hamden apartments, Seramonte, it definitely won’t hurt to attend community events and immerse yourself in the local scene.

Summertime is here and the weather in Stamford is ideal for outdoor entertainment. And that’s a good thing because there are two summer concert series taking place that you won’t want to miss – Pops in the Park and Alive at Five.
Pops in the Park is comprised of three Wednesday evening performances in July. Kicking off the series on July 8, 2009 is the Stamford Symphony Pops. The following Wednesday, July 15th, The Stylistics, an accomplished R&B soul band right out of the 70′s, will take the stage. And the series concludes on July 22 with the New York City Big Band.
On Thursday evenings, Alive @ Five takes over the Heineken Stage with a more contemporary concert series featuring national headliners like Better than Ezra, Tonic, Bo Bice, Sugar Ray and more. The Alive @ Five concert series runs through August 6th with the evening’s festivities beginning at 5:00 p.m. (hence the title of the event). Read More→
Deal or No Deal Casting Call at the Irish Festival
Posted by: | Comments
Something really interesting is coming to the Connecticut Irish Festival this year. Howie Mandell’s hit game show “Deal or No Deal” is hosting a casting call on Saturday, June 27th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Haven festival. Out of all of the get-rich-quick schemes you may have tried in the past, this could be the most lucrative. If chosen to be a contestant, you actually have the opportunity to win $1 million! In this economy who couldn’t stand to win a nice lump sum of money?
What’s the trick on getting cast? According to festival organizers, the show wants “energetic, charismatic and outgoing individuals who can think quickly on their feet.” Basically, show the produces that you are someone American can fall in love with and root for and you’re in. You must be 18 years or older.
If you weren’t already planning to go to the Irish Festival in North Haven, I hope this changes your mind. Read More→
