Enjoy Fall Fun Near Your Norwalk Rentals

There is so much to do in and around Norwalk in October for the residents of our Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments that it can be hard to decide.

For instance on two Saturday nights, Oct.15 and 22, you can take a lantern-light tour through the historic Mill Hill graveyard and hear chilling tales from the spirits of Norwalk’s past. Tours are scheduled at 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on each night, rain or shine. The tours will be followed by refreshments in the old one-room schoolhouse. This pre-Halloween event is organized by the Norwalk Historical Society. During “A Haunting at Mill Hill,” participants will hear stories of murder, death, destruction and more while they meet renegade Tory Easias Bouton, Chester, the haunted Civil War statue, and other entities from Norwalk’s colorful history. The cemetery is located at 2 East Wall Street, Norwalk.

Or, if you’d rather try something a bit tamer, just down the road a bit in Darien is Tokeneke’s annual Pumpkin Carnival that will take place Saturday, Oct.15 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. (rain date: Oct. 16). For more than 40 years, Tokeneke’s Pumpkin Carnival, held at the Tokeneke Elementary School on Old Farm Road in Darien, has been an annual tradition for families in and around the area. The Carnival features attractions for all ages including a haunted house, rides, games and crafts, rock climbing, bouncy castles, a bake sale and raffle prizes.

The farmers markets will be closing up for the season this month, but you’ll still be able to sample fall’s fresh produce at Stew Leonard’s at 100 Westport Avenue. Every year they bring in truckloads of pumpkins and locally grown cool weather produce like squash, broccoli and of course – apples!   Enjoy!
