Summertime = Party Time

By

fort-stamfordIt’s party time! Summertime means parties, barbecues, fiestas, weddings, birthdays and picnics. My family has something going on almost every weekend of the summer already, and I’ll bet yours does too. While the grounds of our downtown Stamford rentals are lovely and provide a shady retreat from the heat of the day, they don’t lend themselves to outdoor gatherings. But, did you know Stamford is home to dozens of public parks? Luckily, the Morgan Manor, Hoyt-Bedford and Townhouse Apartments are all very close to a number of public parks where you can enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.

First is Scalzi Park, located on Bridge Street, less than half-a-mile from the Morgan Manor and Hoyt-Bedford Apartments. It offers picnic areas and grills for even your largest get-togethers. In addition, Scalzi Park offers public tennis courts, baseball fields, several bocce-ball courts and a walking/running track to keep everyone happy and occupied. And, best of all, your guests don’t have to purchase a park pass to go there.

Another outdoor option that doesn’t require park stickers is to head over to Courtland Avenue Park (corner of Courtland Avenue and Main Street) which also offers picnic areas with grills, a playground, plenty of parking and has the added bonus of being next one Stamford’s premier dog parks. So, now your four-legged friends can come to the party too!

Lastly, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you can drive a few miles north of our downtown Stamford Apartments to spend the day at Fort Stamford. Located on Westover Road and Canfield Drive, the park offers grassy fields, benches, picnic tables and walking trails. It also features a lovely flower garden that is the site for many outdoor weddings and family portraits as well as an actual fort that was used by the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. There are no fires allowed here, but you can use one the picnic pavilions for your group and enjoy another gem of Stamford!
