House Plants are a Healthy Addition to Stamford Rentals
By
Finally! The iceberg across the street from my office that started out two-stories tall has at long last melted away. Now I can see the trees are budding, the lawns are greening and early flowers are starting to bloom. All around Norwalk, one can see signs of spring in many of the well-tended parks. Here at the Morningside Gardens featuring Stamford rentals on Prospect Street, we’ve been hard at work with tree pruning, spreading new mulch and planting the flower beds. Very soon, residents and visitors will be able to see the lovely plantings in full bloom.
But you don’t have to leave all that loveliness outdoors. You can grow some of your own greenery that will not only look lovely, but actually provide real health benefits to you and your family. According to a University of Agriculture in Norway study, indoor plants can reduce colds and related illnesses by more than 30 percent, by increasing a home’s humidity levels and decreasing dust. One of the most popular houseplants called the Mother Fern is not only easy to care for, but it’s one of the best at purifying the air. It does well with indirect light and very little moisture. Here’s a list of the nine best houseplants that help remove dust, toxins, tobacco smoke and allergens from the inside air.
- Dragon Tree
- Ivy
- Ficus
- Philodendrons
- Spider Plants
- Peace Lillies
- Ferns
- Chrysanthemums
- Palms
For an averaged sized, two bedroom apartment it is recommended to use 6-8 good sized house plants in 6-8 inch diameter pots. In studies done by NASA, houseplants were able to remove up to 87 percent of air toxins in 24 hours. Start with one or two, and see how it goes. In a few short weeks time, your own little plant-scapes will be just as lovely as the beautiful flower-beds and plantings our residents at Morningside Gardens enjoy.
