The 2010 Connecticut Film Festival Kicks off on May 4th
By
Next week, May 4 through 8, 2010, Danbury, CT will host the Connecticut Film Festival. As a movie buff or someone wanting to break into the movie industry, this is a can’t-miss event. Over 100 films will be competing in 16 different categories to earn the coveted honors, awards and recognition, and many of the films submitted are the original works of Connecticut residents.
Of course, if you are more on the technical side and want to be immersed in the movie industry instead of only entertained by it, then why not participate in some of the interactive or educational events? The film festival is home to a four day workshop titled “Writer’s unblocked,” which gives you the opportunity to get script writing advice from trained actors and professional screenwriting instructors.
In addition to all of the film-centered events, there are also 80 different musical performances taking place throughout the week and seminars devoted to digital media.
With so much going on, of course there are different levels of ticketing and passes:
- Five Event Pass – $35
- Ten Event Pass – $65
- Party – Day Pass – $35 (this includes an evening party and two films or educational events)
- Blue Plate Special – $99 (entrance to all films, interactive and education events)
- All Access – $130 (includes Tuesday and Saturday main events as well as any film, interactive, music, screenwriting show or educational event)
Be sure to visit the schedule of events to peruse all of the different movies, parties, concerts, red carpet events, educational seminars and more. Then, go ahead and map out which events you want to attend and purchase your tickets. Many of these events have a limited number of attendees, so you don’t want to wait until the last minute to try and get in.
There is no question that Danbury is going to be full of people all week long thanks to the amazing Connecticut Film Festival, causing lots of traffic and horrendous parking situations. Luckily this is one headache that residents of the Stamford, CT apartments The Townhouse, Hoyt Bedford and Morgan Manor won’t have to deal with. These three apartment communities are located within walking distance to the Stamford train station, which has four or five trains to and from Danbury on a daily basis.
