Battle of the Bands Coming to Downtown Stamford!

Stamford Downtown Battle of the BandsThe whole nation is succumbing to the power of music! The number one show in the nation for almost the past decade has been a singing competition (American Idol). The mega-hit new television show for the 2009/2010 season is a musical (Glee). On a local level, one of the most popular events in Downtown Stamford is the Alive @ Five summer concert series. No matter where you are looking, people love to hear and create music. So, it’s about time that Stamford has accepted the power of music and is giving local artists and bands an amazing opportunity.

On May 21, 2010, downtown Stamford will be filled with different musicians competing for the opportunity to perform during one of the summer Alive @ Five events – it’s the inaugural Battle of the Bands. There are two ways to participate in the exciting event – be a competitor or be a spectator. No matter which option is right for you, we just want you to participate. So, come out and show your support for the local musical talent or showcase your musical talent.

If you want to be a competitor, you must submit your entry by April 30, 20010. All you have to do is fill out the application form and send it to 95.9 THE FOX with a CD, bio and picture. The bands selected to compete in the Battle of the Bands will be notified and expected to play on May 21, 2010. Then six bands will move on to the next round and will play “Bedford Street Promenade” on June 12th, 19th and 26th. Three winners will be selected for the grand prize of performing on the Heineken Stage during Alive @ Five.

If you want to be a spectator, all you need to do is walk the streets of Downtown Stamford on May 21, 2010. Bands will be positioned throughout the city, hoping to impress both you and the judges. Residents at The Townhouse, which are apartments in Downtown Stamford completely immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the city, may even be able to hear the bands just by opening a window!
